Profile of Jim McHugh

Jim McHugh has broad, senior, general management experience in middle market and emerging growth companies within the manufacturing, distribution, and retail industry sectors. He has particular experience with underperforming ('STUCK- see article) situations. Since forming McHugh & Company in 1992, he has also served in permanent and interim management roles as a CEO and CFO. Jim has designed and directed challenging strategic and operational improvement engagements in both small and large organizations; his recommendations have produced substantial enhancements in strategic focus, operating performance, profitability, and shareholder value.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Southworth International Group, Inc. (Falmouth, ME), the Board of Directors of Climax Manufacturing Company (Lowville, NY) and the Board of Advisors of Seaman Paper Co. of Massachusetts, Inc. (Otter River, MA). He is a former Director of Shield Pack Inc. (Monroe, LA), a former Director of The Retec Group Inc. (Concord, MA), and a former Director of Questech Metals, Inc. (Rutland, VT).

Early Career

Early in his career, Jim worked at Arthur Andersen & Co./Andersen Consulting in Boston, Computervision Corporation, and was President of Strategies, Inc., an information technology consulting firm.

Education and Professional Certification

Graduated with an AB in Economics from Bowdoin College and an MBA from The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. Earned a CPA early in his career while employed with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Professional and Community Involvement

Former Director and Newsletter Editor: Boston Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (www.acgboston.org). Co-Founder, Former Director and Treasurer: Concord-Carlisle Patrons of Performing Students, Inc. (www.ccpops.org), a non-profit parent support group with over 200 parent members that sponsors multiple events for school chorus and drama programs. Founder: The Concord Vine, a monthly breakfast group of operating executives, private investors, corporate development professionals and attorneys. Various coaching roles in youth team sports.

Personal

Jim's passions outside of work include family life (married 30 years with two daughters), running, squash, reading, writing and his Golden Retriever, Heidi.
